Sony KDL-V40XBR1 BRAVIA 40″ XBR(R) LCD Television Review
Posted by HDTV Buying Guide on May 25th, 2010
I have read and reviewed LCD TV for almost a year before finally making a decision on this purchase. I'm quite happy with my choice so far! I had the TV for a bit 'less than two months and ran across the ring with various applications. Xbox, PS2, GameCube, Xbox 360 conversion, DVD player and digital cable. Each request for this TV looks great, great colors, beautiful dark black (which may be difficult to find with LCD), image quality in all HD phenominalSettings.
The only complaint is that I have with this program is a long time to get the correct settings with setting dffferent. I went through many changes in my equipment, A / V cable, and whenever I spend a lot of time obscene image quality adjustments. Although this has been said, hours after the position hours, I made a lot of photos to my preferences are worth the end result.
Video games, tooGeneration systems (Xbox, PS2 and GameCube), seem to folders with the right cables surprising. Xbox 360 blow your socks off and leave in full compliance with the clarity and sharpness of the video-game console. DVD via HDMI is incredible, and glued to the TV a couple of days!
Bottom line, if 3 Grand to be on TV .. This is just one!

Horrible! – Natonia Brazington – Graham, NC United States
March 11, 2006 bought the TV for $ 2400 (before the price drop). It 'was a one-year warranty. Currently, less than three years after purchase by colored diagonal lines across the screen. No other products from Sony for me!
It Is Okay – Restoring Stationmaster’s House – Michigan USA
Unfortunately I bought it before prices fall, so I paid about $ 1000.00 more to them about a year ago. I bought it because Sony seems to have only the best products. I bought this model when I saw the shop next to each plasma and LCD. If someone tries to buy I would suggest going to compare them side by side. The picture is incredible compared to other brands. See what is true black, compared to other TVs.
after this is meYou will find that the picture is very dark. I tried the game with all settings and can not explain. I would contact Sony to see if there is a patch or something for her. About six months I'll have to change because I see the situation a bit '.
Also, I am sure that is the same for all its big-screen television when you see something that is not the whole screen, so you can see a black border around the image. If I changemake a larger picture, or zoom distorts the image and reduce the closed caption.
At the current price I would recommend
I expect at this point in the near future, this television.
Good TV – Jon E. Williams – Norfolk, Va. USA
Good TV! HD images are excellent! standard definition images are obviously not great, not terrible but at the same time. I can not wait to see more HD material, such as HD picture is breathtaking. This TV has a lot of image parameters that can be set, and I do not see any of them. Guide assumes that the reader knows everything "white layer" and the like, but it really hurt my enjoyment of my flat screen TV. More HDMI inputs would be welcomeOut. It appears that it was "clouding" problems and models XBR2 XBR3 currently.
Before 2010 – I had this TV for almost 4 years! still works well and gives a great HD picture.
SONY SERVICE SUXS – Kerrie Stewart – San Diego CA USA
Actually, I bought this TV online on another site. Four months later and still in my living room floor has never worked from day one! Sony's treatment of me was disgusting. Do not want to pay for expensive parties have the service provider back & Forth to try all sorts of things. A logical solution would be to tell the service guys "Hey try this & that, but if not do they work, then here is the party to take with you to install, then did notcustomer expects, and persecution. "But nooo, can not Sony do not bother to Their Customers. It 'impossible to contact someone apart from the Sony customer & operator phone # if you someone with authority, do not return their calls on time and inflexible, unnecessary and unpleasant, or just having satisfied customers. My advice? Do not buy Sony, because if you have a problem with the device is almost nonexistent. or buyOffline major equipment. To purchase from a local shop where you can easily return if something goes wrong. Needless to say I will not buy Sony again!

Sony KDF-60XS955 60-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television Review
Posted by HDTV Buying Guide on March 25th, 2010
I started looking for a big screen TV in 2004, but were so expensive. In 2005, the DVD I wanted to buy the television and sees the path of new technologies. That is, when I worked on the art Sony. Elegant frame with side speakers was impressive. Matte front panel to protect the screen and reduce glare (not much in this function), suitable for small children to touch everything! And 'better with a combination of projections, with sharp images HD LCD. IfTheir children play video games a lot (for me at times) do not have to worry Screen Burn. HDMI video ports with more than enough to connect everything – HD satellite receiver, the receiver / amplifier, DVD, VCR, Xbox, Wii, Play Station 3 Plus show really stick compatible with the images (the family can send their elderly parents) to see! , ^) How's the campaign HD – I can see, Discovery HD, HD sports, HD movies, Action Sci Fi and without problems. Once you go HD, it is difficult to seeStandard definition. In this way, when he was on the showroom floor and see all that is good to know the function that I saw a woman, to discuss finances than they were, "he said quietly to it, I love it.." Sold!
Writing this in June 2008 with more than 8,300 hours for the lamp timer and replace only the lamp. I reset it online for $ 130 and the timer itself. It 'just that the change is made. I am so happy with it, repairs, Sony KDF-60XS955 60-inch HD LCD rear-projection TV than now, when Ifirst purchased. I'd rather spend a little 'more like a high quality product than to go too cheap and swearing at the end of each time something went wrong.

Specifications
Huge screen. Brilliant, lifelike image. Explosive sound. Yes, it’s Sony’s 60-inch KDF-60XS955 rear-projection LCD television, which is equipped to deliver standard and full-fledged HDTV reception right out of the box with its integrated NTSC and ATSC (HDTV) tuners. It also offers digital cable readiness with a CableCARD slot and the latest digital-video interface, HDMI. Weighing a mere 113 pounds and standing under 21 inches deep, the set also offers maximum image with minimal space investment.
The set’s 1,366 x 788 liquid-crystal display frees you from having to make convergence adjustments or having to worry about image burn-in. Instead you get incredible detail (more than 3 million pixels), high contrast, and even, corner-to-corner brightness from the set’s user-replaceable 132-watt UHP (ultra high pressure) lamp.
The screen features a wide, 16:9 aspect ratio to match the dimension of most movies and HDTV broadcasts, and the KDF-60XS955 offers compatibility with standard-definition 480i, enhanced-definition 480p, and high-definition 720p and 1080i signals.
Sony’s CineMotion 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal is a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. Digital video mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture.
The set’s WEGA Engine system maximizes picture performance from any video source by minimizing the number of digital-to-analog conversion processes. This full digital processing engine includes Sony’s MID-X (Multi Image Driver), which maintains the integrity of a converted signal by minimizing image loss in the scaling process; and a proprietary optical engine, which employs a trio of Sony’s wide-XGA, high-resolution LCD panels, 1 for each of the RGB signals (resulting in a total of 3.28 million dots of resolution).
The optical engine also features a special 11-element lens system responsible for the lightweight, ultra-slim cabinet. The lens system bends the light path, creating an ultra-short focal point while maintaining high brightness. This proprietary system delivers vivid images from the center of the screen all the way to the edges.
This XS Series Grand WEGA television offers advanced menu functions that are typically found only in service menus: gamma correction (bright and dark balancing), black correction (enhances contrast), white balance (fine-tunes white intensity), detail enhancement (sharpens the picture), and clear white (emphasizes whites).
The set includes numerous other features.
- TwinView PIP (picture-in-picture) lets you view any 2 sources simultaneously, even at different image resolutions, while the built-in Memory Stick media slot offers ready display of both JPEG images and MPEG-1 video.
- A Memory Stick media slot (compatible with Memory Stick Pro and Memory Stick Duo media) grants convenient viewing of JPEG and MPEG-1 files. It can also display customized slide shows using MP3 files for background music.
- Authorized CableCARD ability means the set will receive digital cable television systems services directly from the cable operator without requiring a bulky, external cable box.
- Live Color is an innovative circuit that emphasizes blues and greens without affecting reds for a more natural, vivid picture. Choose from 3 enhancement levels (high, medium, low) or “off.”
- Sony’s exclusive S-Master 1-bit digital amplifier produces 5 watts per channel (x 2), pumping an additional 20 watts into a built-in subwoofer for rich, full-bodied sound from movies and music.
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link the set with any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver).

CAVEAT EMPTOR : Know what you’re getting yourself into. – Michael Thomas – San Pedro, CA US
We begin by the quality of sound and picture quality than the average for the TV are at the moment. But it would be for someone who will sell you a TV irresponsible known problems associated with this model. In particular, the optical block is too long. This is the main image to create a device for this model. To replace and / or updated model will cost more than a thousand dollars. Moreover, the lamps lasted only a few years, whenFortuna, and run around 150-250 a piece, depending on whether you are buying factor, or after-market parts, and if the service in question.
Search Google for "optical block" and "or Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55wf655" time to yourself before you buy. It 'a shame, because if this fails, a picture is really beautiful.
Not bad, not great – Kevin M. Moser –
Great TV, with the exception of areas of high light. Works better in the dark. Although it is not good with fast motion, like sports HD. There are a lot of pixelation. But while HD in low light areas, it's great. I took the lamp, but now after only 3.5 years. I think it's normal time with normal use. But drop $ 200 on a new lamp is annoying. I can not wait until the light goes off again. Then I have to justify the switch to plasma or LCD.
I would recommend this TVfriend, when the price is reasonable.
BEWARE!!! – rayplayguitar – Texas
I have had this TV for about 15 months. Until about a week ago was the overall size of the TV. But now I'm beside myself, I am so angry, and probably get nothing from Sony! It has become almost impossible to watch TV, because the image and the sound loses about 30 seconds and then come back. Standby LED flashes approx. 38-42 times, when it happens. Sony "customer service" was not there, and it is likely that the correction is the exhorbitant cost a lot of money. It isTV Sony seconds I the shit that I was so excited.
Great Product! – J. Bergen – Denver, CO
I had such a high price item from the internet, but I'm skeptical about receiving items no remorse. Sony TV is great, the picture is amazing, and set-up was a breeze. TV is the real value!

Practical HDTV Buying Guide
Posted by HDTV Buying Guide on October 31st, 2009For all those people who still have ancient television sets in your home—sets whose screen is smaller than twenty-one inches and whose picture quality is so poor that you cannot distinguish between black and blue—it is time to change your television set. But you should not rush to the nearest store and select a big-screen TV without having knowledge about technology and the type of televisions available. There is a variety of televisions which ranges from analog and digital signal to LCD. Here is the HDTV Buying Guide.
HDTV is getting famous, but many people do not know what this technology consists of. HDTV stands for “high definition television” in terms of high-quality sound, picture and images. This technology is getting well known in new, modern television sets and almost all big-screen LCDs are using it. The price of an HD base television is higher than (more…)
