Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Review

up, I did research for about a year while I saved money. This is the best settings for your money, you can find everything you've ever read is true, except for one thing. Burn-in. Observant readers. Even if you watch HD-TV with a symbol in the corner as "TLC" will burn in case the symbol stops moving. I have this set and a good friend does, too. What really bothers me to play my PS3 through it. Sharp as a razor, yes. Adding a static background for the original theme, but is badIdea. Try it, you'll see. then play music and turn on the Visualizer. If you do not burn, and then get your eyes checked. Rock Band or Guitar Hero game for an hour (this is'nt hard), turn on any white background, look at the game icon burn ins (underground rock, etc..) Usually disappears after a few hours, but it is frustrating. Both my settings and do my good friend has the same thing. burn for another half hour of still images to create better days, now forecaststhan ever must be, at least after some time …. If you are a player, pick AQUOS. No burn-in settings for the LCD screen and a runner goes up a large photo (red wines are a bit 'strange, but sometimes). The ratings are slightly lower, but damn, you have at least one game to break free havening afraid to switch inputs to avoid burn in serious people. Beware. great, bad for the players and burn-in. razor sharp, though ….

Fantastic HDTV – Just A Guy – CT USA
Purchased after reading in Consumer Reports that would have been better never tried. I could not happier with her. No Complaints. Nice picture. If you need external speakers. Internal factors are so-so (I think it's a complaint, but smaller).

Top of the line – danno101 – Out in the sun
I bought this set about 6 months. Before buying my research on avsforum. great source of information, audio and video materials. It could not be happier with my choice.
When it was delivered, the sender and grabbed the initial configuration to ensure that it works. In the first picture was less than expected, until I realized that my cable company has not been broadcast in HD. Once captured the HD signal is delivered in a crowd, I could not believe my eyes. The picture was impressive. ImageSetup is simple thanks to an optional Avia calibration disk. It 'was very close to full right from the factory. All functions can easily control the OSD. Peripheral connections are adequate and easy. Sound Factory is good enough for me. I have a home theater audio system could be a big plus as well.
Size matters …….. There is a range from 50 inches! My wife thought I was crazy and great. Sounds great, I know, but the biggest mistake people here to buy too little. She loves him. Now, as big as your budget allows and / or space. It is worth it.
Absolutely no complaints ……. excellent drive.

Beware Panasonic – K – Florida
I bought a Panasonic plasma 2 years ago and died for no reason. now costs $ 2,000 for advice, just to fix it. TV mechanic, said he had never seen a high cost of replacement board. Several different board tried without luck. I'm still waiting.

Toshiba 56HM66 56-Inch 720p DLP HDTV Review

Posted by HDTV Buying Guide on April 10th, 2010

This is a bit 'late here, but the package because the importance of the review. We bought this 3 years in 2006 after 3 years, is far from the television, still a pretty picture. We are very pleased with this series, every time I see the photos are still surprised to not take my eyes away from him. The image is very bright and clear, people still ask whether the projection, as seen with bright light and a small footprint. I think if you HD, then using the largest file you want, you can see more details.Punishment too little, and you will not notice the difference. This set is perfect for our stay. We knew that changing light bulbs, we have examined, before we bought kinds. We replace the bulb once, last year, so we had 2 years of intensive use of it. I'd buy the original bulb (YMP-L66) from Toshiba, if possible, avoid the cheapest. Toshiba was great and sent us a problem. We want to head to other DLP at that time. When we bought our LCD yet"Watch me fly, DLP has been set. No Problem" Burn-in, so it's ideal for gaming. We Dishnetwork HD Silver package. HD channels are amazing, but try to breathe the air when a scene! We have a few things in order to protect it from our cats, because they still want to skip from time to time on them. I bought a thin sheet of plexiglass that are large enough to cover the entire front of the TV, and asked that some small pieces of velcro for spaceremovable for cleaning. Plexiglass polish is a bit ', but is hardly noticeable, and a small inconvenience for soothing GREAT! If the damage is not someone or something to ensure a big screen if you have kids, too. We also fixed to the glass wall in the center of resistance. I used fishing line, and pieces of clear tape at top corners, smooth, almost imperceptible. Again, the low cost of insurance. In addition, non-slip rubber pads and pillowsAt both ends to prevent slipping on the stand. Now it is very solid. The only thing I can change the sentence of a fan for the lamp to run again after you leave, see other files, timers, was shut down after some time. It takes a while 'to start the lamp, while cool, not just a plug, a lamp or goodbye! We just dropped when we go to bed, leave, o. And 'no doubt that I am very pleased with this sentence and say, Toshiba, and would buy the same amount again, withoutHesitation when something has happened.

Overview

56″ DLP PROJECTIVE TV

Specifications

Get the sharpest and clearest images possible from HD and standard TV and your favorite DVD movies with the 56-inch Toshiba 56HM66 DLP rear-projection television, which offers a 720p progressive resolution. This set is loaded with the latest in video and audio processing technology as well as loaded with a wide variety of connectivity options. The set’s built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner pulls HD signals (480p/720p/1080i) right from the airwaves, and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. The CableCARD port means the set will also receive digital cable television systems services directly from a compatible cable operator without requiring a bulky, external cable box. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming.

DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can’t match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time–no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It’s the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.

This DLP set utilizes Toshiba’s new TALEN 5 engine, which incorporates the Texas Instruments HD5 DLP chip and new Brilliant Color 2 technology. It also offers the new high-speed PixelPure 14-Bit video processing, which operates at 333 MHz and provides true 12-bit processing for more natural images. In addition to its high bit rate, PixelPure 12-bit also features new real speed progressive scanning, increased dynamic range, increased sharpness, improved video noise reduction, and dynamic gamma for uncompromised picture quality. The Radiance 150 Hi-Bright lamp is 25 percent brighter for increased brightness without losing contrast.

The 56HM66 set features Toshiba’s CableClear DNR+ technology, which optimizes poor NTSC signals from antenna or cable sources to eliminate video noise (“snow”) for a clean crisp image. It utilizes the digital 3D/YC comb filter to compare frames and determine the existence and extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video inputs, and can be selected by input.

The aforementioned 3D Y/C comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. The Cinema Mode feature performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too–a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture. This set also offers five TheaterWide modes that expand letterboxed images–which is particularly useful when watching narrow letterboxed Panavision or CinemaScope films.

The HD Window POP feature can accept 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i signals, and can even display 4:3 and 16:9 images on the screen at the same time. The split screen function allows you to increase or decrease the size of the POP boxes, making one larger than the other. It enables you to continue to view the main picture in a large POP box while viewing Favorite Channels, or channel scanning in the other smaller POP boxes. The Movie Mode feature changes the basic picture setup conditions to create a more theater-like picture, while the Sports Mode feature automatically adjusts appropriate picture levels to produce enhanced color, detail and brightness. Other convenience features include color temperature control, auto aspect ratio detection, closed captioning on mute, sleep timer, tri-lingual on-screen display, video input labeling, channel labeling, channel/video lock, and V-Chip parental controls.

This set has two stereo speakers that provide 10 watts of power per channel (for 20 watts of total power) and SRS WOW virtual surround sound. The StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This helps to eliminate the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.

It’s easy to connect to brilliant imagery with the component and HDMI connections–the latter offering pure digital audio/video performance with no degradation of signal from just one convenient cable. This set offers the following connection options:

  • Composite A/V: 2 (1 side) in, 1 out
  • S-Video: 2 (1 side) in
  • Component Video: 2 in
  • HDMI: 2 in
  • RF: 2 in
  • Digital audio output: 1 optical

Tech Talk
A DLP television (Digital Light Projection, also referred to as microdisplays) typically offers a large screen with a cabinet that’s deeper than standard LCD and plasma screens, but far more compact than old-school cathode-ray television (CRTs). This rear-projection TV projects red, green, and blue light that’s filtered through a pixel-filled microchip color wheel and directed onto a digital micromirror device (DMD), a chip with millions of hinged, microscopic mirrors attached, which switches on and off up to 5,000 times a second. The reflected light is directed through a lens and onto a screen, creating an image. Unlike rear-projection CRT sets, all microdisplays can get quite bright without losing detail, so they’re perfectly watchable in brightly lit rooms.

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV–all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats–standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

SRS WOW virtual surround sound processing technology consists of three separate sound expanding systems, which work together to extract “buried” highs and lows. The three systems are, SRS 3D, TruBass, and FOCUS. SRS 3D creates a three dimensional sound field from just two speakers, thus giving the listener the feeling of hearing a multi speaker surround sound system. TruBass produces a powerful, yet low, frequency sound by utilizing a process called psychoacoustics. From only two small speakers, TruBass will give the effect of an expensive sub bass woofer that will leave the listener amazed by the quality of the sound. FOCUS was added to direct the energy from the speakers of the television set in a vertical direction up towards the listenerÕs ears. The addition of FOCUS means that there is virtually no loss of sound from the speakerÕs position on the bottom panel near the floor, which achieves a clear, undistorted range of audio.

Don’t buy Toshiba DLP TV – P. Xia –
The light went on television in 11 months and the second went in 13 months, just before Christmas. Each lamp costs me $ 250 to $ 300 U.S.. This means that you can spend your budget, for example, each year (in the case of a wrong decision, I bought a Toshiba TV, has done)! I only watch TV less than 3 hours per day. Handbook 6000-8000 hour lamp compeletly misleading. Think twice when you buy a Toshiba TV and turn to see the posts of the first real Internet. Do not believe Toshiba manuals.

Solid TV for the Money – Brian Seel –
As someone who has this TV for almost 2 years in real estate, is great. A better investment that LCD or plasma had (its very small, so you get the same price).

For some of the alleged negative, we begin with the image quality. It 's great, "said a zero imperfections. But, given the screen size, you must sit 15-20 ft with a non-HD signal. If you are sitting 5 feet away, you do not have enough space for a screen of this size, regardless of brand. HD picture quality is phenomenal.

Secondly, those of you discuss between 720p and 1080p should know that no one in broadcasting 720p. This can be a problem for Blu-Ray, but you have hair on the distribution of image quality at this point.

Lamp life is a little over a year – Adrienne D. Rae – CA
Same problem as everyone else. The lamp life is terrible. Do you think Toshiba has sold $ 250 bulbs pop? A good way to earn extra money. I stick to plasma and LCD from now on, nothing more, and then probably go with Toshiba.
