Toshiba 40RV525R 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

I bought this TV in November last year and immediately sat down with my wife in a first film 1080i, we could find to see on cable TV. It's "Brothers Grimm" and the image quality really, really room.
The film proved too great a problem for the unit. It 'was shot in very dark scenes, who fought with built-in auto-contrast and muddy things. There were other scenes, the extreme differences however, had the same structure.
We were verydisappointed.

It could be because it's easy to get controls for creating and corresponding changes to compensate for deficits, but after a while 'I realized that it was too different combinations. I needed to add some numbers to find the best settings set in the neighborhood.
that their factory settings for each unit, are usually recruited Do not forget to look good in the shop – not for the overall vision.

I found this settingonline and did everything 100% better! improvements later, I was more than satisfied with the quality and not setting how touched. These settings can be [...]. find

Poor Quality – Thomas Beckerle – St Louis, MO
Here I will be brief, but TV is not what I expected. I really think what you pay for.

TV lines in the image. Old look good on DVD, maybe it's my cable connection. I do not know if anyone has anything to add, it would be nice.

COULD BE BETTER – B. R. Norton –
The only thing that is needed to improve SEE MY WAY sound and look of Least Squares

Great Value – J. Schmidt – St Cloud, MN
OK, OK, people … Those who need to write a complaint to the quality of picture and sound, a step back and look at what others I bought for the same money and have so many features like this TV. Of course this is not the best, otherwise the dollar 1,000 + $ 549 instead of the cost when I bought it. Even the 1000-plus TV is still sound shit. The sound of this set is mediocre, but that is why there is an optical output for connecting the Dolby surround-sound setup. The picture is 1080p, and60Hz refresh rate – more than acceptable for normal HD programming. Players should be obvious to many who have at least the appearance of a faster moving game console 120Hz.

All in all – a great TV for the money. If you are looking for top TV market – this is not … but you should know that if you look at the price.

I bought this TV in December '05 and had a very good image quality. He suffers, like most TVs in this proposal, the scenes fuzzies in a fire, rain, lightning, etc. In addition, image quality excellent. The interviews are fine if you've never heard it before the receiver, but I'm pretty sure my factory radio sounds better.

My only two real complaints about this TV is the size of car modifications and bad (or at least hidden) ads 1080p.First, prepare yourself for the pleasure of driving, if you have more resources (or non-HD vs. HD programming) to have the distinction of different sources. Switching between the channels of HD / HD TV is not an area of the causes of the moment to act to restore the correct format. I also enjoyed (or not) saw him move from full-size screen (4:3), after I tried to say that to remain in widescreen.
*****
Secondly, as another reviewer said, this TV only accepts 1080i in input. I feel verycheated on this topic. The reason? Xbox 360 recently (11 / 1) current output with 1080p support. It means that working in TV? NO! There is a real difference in picture quality? Beats me, because I never know about this TV. To advertise the TV as 1080p, but then discover (on no less than Google – Toshiba site itself is nothing but marketing bull), that magic can only input 1080i for 1080p output is disgusts me.

Then wrap around excellent TV is my experienceOverall. I found the Toshiba web site, which is a known problem with the bulbs, and will extend the warranty on the lamp for another year, if your s / n, in this area.

Specifications

Get the sharpest and clearest images possible from HD and standard TV and your favorite DVD movies with the 72-inch Toshiba 72HM195 DLP rear-projection television, which offers both 1080p and 720p progressive resolution. As 720p is rated as high-definition, Toshiba has dubbed this TheaterWide TV XHD–2X Resolution, as its 1080p rating has twice the pixel count of 720. This set is loaded with the latest in video and audio processing technology as well as loaded with a wide variety of connectivity options, including Firewire and a multi-format memory card slot.

DLP (which stands for Digital Light Processing) uses an optical semiconductor to recreate source material with a fidelity analog systems can’t match. While other technologies lose a certain amount of light in transit, the microscopic mirrors in a DLP projection system bring more light from lamp to screen. It also features better color uniformity over time–no burn-in, screen aging or color-shifting possible. It’s the leading display technology for products like small portable conference room projectors and professional venue entertainment systems.

The technology at the center of the 62HM95 is the new Toshiba Digital Light Engine named Talen X, which utilizes Texas Instruments’ xHD4 chip, advanced optics, and Toshiba’s DEEP Picture and Xtreme BLAC technologies to provide high resolution with improved brightness and contrast. It also includes the new PixelPure AT Digital Video Processing, utilizing new Adaptive Technology to create further improved picture quality, the new Radiance 150 Hi-Bright Lamp for noticeably brighter images and a TheaterFine DFP Screen with anti-glare coating that results in increased detail and noticeably deeper blacks.

A 3D Y/C comb filter (4 MB, 10-bit with Vertical Contour Correction) further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character’s striped T-shirt). The CableClear feature utilizes the Digital 3D/YC Comb Filter to compare frames and determine the existence and extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video inputs, and can be selected by input.

The HD Dynamic Contrast feature increases contrast and color saturation to create deep, rich images. The intelligent circuitry analyzes both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizes the dynamic range in each area of the picture. Toshiba’s PixelPure AT (Adaptive Technology) includes Motion Adaptive De-Interlacing, Adaptive MPEG Processing, Adaptive Contrast Enhancement, and Adaptive Color Enhancement–all critical elements to deliver a consistently high quality picture.

With the integrated ATSC tuner, you’ll be able to receive off-air high definition broadcasts without the need for an external set-top box. It also features a digital cable tuner (QAM), which allows for the reception of digital cable signals that are not scrambled. It also incorporates a CableCard slot for optional card, which can pick up HD (ATSC) broadcasts from your digital cable provider (digital cable subscription required). The integrated TV Guide on-screen guide provides an easy to read listing of the television programs available to view or record. It includes an 8-day program listing, the ability to perform keyword searches for locating favorite programs, and the G-Link IR Blaster for controlling cable boxes.

The speakers provide a total of 20 watts of power (20 watts per channel). The SRS WOW virtual surround sound system provides amazing, enveloping sound through just the two built-in speakers. It also provides MTS stereo/SAP with dbx. The StableSound feature eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels.

It offers the following connection options:

  • Composite AV (RCA): 3 in (1 side), 1 out
  • S-Video: 3 in (1 side)
  • Component video: 2 in (480i/480p/720p)
  • HDMI: 1 in
  • RF: 2 in
  • Firewire (IEEE1394): 2 in
  • Analog audio (RCA, L/R): 1 out

The OmniViewer memory card slot accepts five different types of memory cards, including SD (Secure Digital), MM (Multi-Media), MS (Memory Stick), CF (Compact Flash), and SM (Smart Media). In addition, it includes a JPEG Viewer program that allows the TV to display pictures from most digital cameras, which can be rotated and viewed in an automatic presentation format. The TheaterNet Control System simplifies the control of external components through both an IR jack and Firewire (IEEE1394) port, the latter of which can be used to transmit digital video and audio and allow for recording of HDTV.

Convenience features include color temperature control, closed captioning on mute, sleep timer, tri-lingual on-screen display, V-Chip parental controls, video input labelling, channel labeling, and Toshiba’s GameTimer feature, which allows parents to set the television to shut off after a specified period of time and stay off until a lockout key code is entered.

DLP Lamp Problems – Ranbir Singh – Washington, DC USA
bad product. My lamp DLP died

TV NOT WORTH CONTINUED INVESTMENT – Gypsy Avalon –
We are very disappointed in this TV we have a year and a half and have twice had to replace the lamp. Once it was under warranty, but now we have the money to pay out of pocket, and the lamps are not cheap. We found the "solution" to the lamp, and "only pay $ 180 for it. Toshiba says that the lamp should last 8,000 hours, on average, in both cases were considered to 1200-1500 hours. Toshiba wrote the letter without response. BuyerTVrequires attention and more investment.

Horrible Quality, Not 1080p, Do Not Buy!!! – J. Ray –
I'm an addict, electronics, and is the latest and greatest is not a 1080p TV, as they say, is to inform about it! Toshiba is to convince stupid people like me to believe them. This idea is too get a 1080p for about 2000 less than big names. I had to listen to my instincts. 1080p DLP HDTV is the name of "engine" used in the production of images, but has nothing in common with the quality of real images. Just take a DISPLAY 10.801 !!!!!!The quality is terrible. A 480 or 720 resolution (PAI) can not even see the faces, a basketball player. 1080i is OK, but you need 20 + (owner of the state of excitation is 10-25), back even to get a decent photo. . We pioneered HDTV for 3 years to replace, without HDMI, 1080i is the best I can do, and is much better than this. I repeat: is NOT '1080p! HD-DVD and Blu-Ray is already here, if you purchase this TV Lives of OthersYears. I wish I had found these reviews, I had already saved about 3000!
